Over 20 years ago, a "white trash" girl made it to the top of the figure skating world, hindered by a hard upbringing, her mother was physically and psychologically abusive to her as she grew up, they say that sometimes people can't break away from the cycle of abuse and this was true of Harding, who married a violent man, yet she still managed to show her talent on the ice rink, she was the first the first woman to complete a triple axel in short competition, the first to execute two triple axels in a single competition and the first to ever complete a triple axel combination toe loop, but her world fell apart after being banned for life when her husband and her bodyguard were involved in injuring her closest rival, Nancy Kerrigan, although she herself was not involved in the incident, she was convicted of hindering the investigation. They say life can be stranger than fiction, this film was put together based on inteviews with Harding, it's a very funny but tragic black comedy and thoroughly enjoyable. It's not been released over here as yet, as far as I can make out. The film  was nominated for three Golden Globes so could be in line for Oscar nominations too, I really rate the film and give it  9/10, it has a cracking soundtrack as well.
